Best Hotpot in KL !!

Feng Wang Fu 凤王府 Hot Pot @ Bukit Bintang

FWF (or Feng Wang Fu in Chinese) prides itself on serving authentic Chengdu hot pot, which you can choose up to three soup bases per pot. It's also one of the few restaurants that are opened 'til the wee hours of dawn, so you can count on having something warm to fill your tummies with after a wild night out!

FWF originated in Chengdu, with many branches in different regions of China. This is the first and only branch in Malaysia located at KL Fahrenheit 88. They portray a red ancient theme with their restaurant design to illustrate the beauty and essence of China. The moment you step into FWF, it exhibits an Ancient China “Emperor palace” vibes which makes you feel “superior” yet comfortable at the same time. The restaurant has a strong yet tasty "Mala Sichuan Pepper" Fragant to stimulate your five senses! All the soup base in FWF are the same as the authentic Chinese hotpot style in Chengdu, which consists of Wangfu secret recipe (mala), tomato soup base, mushroom soup base and pork bone soup, etc. They also provide the option of having 2-3 different soup bases in one pot, each priced differently.

We got to try their Mala soup base, Tomato soup base and Pork Bone soup base! Their mala soup base was really delicious as it has the right balance between spicy and savoury yet not too "mala" or greasy, the fresh beef slices are recommended to go with the mala soup base as it just blends very well altogether!!! All the meats are very fresh and sweet which goes along very well with other soup bases too. Most of the dishes served symbolises the authentic Chinese traditional recipes of Chengdu, bringing you the taste and experience of the most authentic Chengdu hot pot. There are also many special dishes for Chinese hot pot to choose from, such as: [Linglong brain flower] [rose meatball] [Wangfu abattoir hairy belly] [consuming fish] [Wangfu nine feet goose intestine] [fine layer Belly] [Excellent pig yellow throat] [bamboo shrimp paste] and so on can add your hot pot flavored side dishes, and dozens of hot pot ingredients to choose from will satisfy your appetite.

PS:// Tips on dining in FWF

Source : FWF FB page
  • They serve plain white bread with hotpot, which is highly unusual. The purpose of the bread is to absorb excess oil from the food after cooking in the hotpot.
  • Put the cooked food on the bread to remove excess oil, then dip it in the condiment before eating.
  • This is to ensure customers enjoy the spicy and flavourful taste of hotpot without having to taste excess oil to ensure maximum enjoyment.

One of my favourite snacks!

Fried Buns + Condensed Milk

Brown Sugar Glutinous Rice Cake
One of the FWF best-selling snacks
It is also one of Chengdu classic snack, an essential match with Chengdu hotpot!

The waiting line is so long that it filled the entire restaurant five foot way from the main entrance. If you plan to dine in, reservation is very much recommended especially on a weekend. Either that, or come as early as possible or for late night supper. :D
